Upper Quarter Screen Flashcards
The purpose of Upper/Lower Quarter Screens:
- ID joints which may need closer examination
- Rule in/out peripheral nerve involvement
- Rule in/out cervical/lumbar spine involvement
- Reproduction of patient’s symptoms

Basic Components of an Upper/Lower Quarter Screen
- (AROM/PROM) with overpressure
- Muscle testing ((dermatomes/myotomes)) > hold for _ seconds
- Sensation testing ((dermatomes/myotomes))
- Reflex testing
Neurologic Screen:
Motor: (muscle testing/sensation testing)
Sensory: (muscle testing/sensation testing)
AROM; 5; myotomes; dermatomes; muscle testing; sensation testing
Upper/Lower Quarter Screen
(AROM/PROM) with overpressure and muscle testing
o Separated here for your reference by body part; typically performed doing all ROM (first/second), then all muscle testing
AROM; first
Cervical Spine
AROM:
Flexion, extension, R rotation, L rotation, R side flexion, L side flexion (with overpressure)
Muscle Testing:
N/A
