Upper Limb Nerves Flashcards
brachial plexus involves nerve roots x to x?
C5 to T1
what are the sections of the brachial plexus?
roots, trunks, divisions, cords, nerves
describe the root to the musculocutaneous nerve
the anterior part of the superior trunk forms the lateral cord with the anterior part of the middle tunk which then divide to form musculocutaneous nerve and part of the median nerve
describe the root to the axillary and radial nerves
the posterior division of the superior, middle and inferior trunks join together to form the posterior cord which divides into the axillary and radial nerves
describe the root to the median nerve
the anterior division of the inferior trunk and the anterior division of the superior trunk come together at the cord level to form median nerve
describe the root to the ulnar nerve
the anterior division of the inferior trunk forms the ulnar nerve (splits at nerve level to form part of the median nerve)
what does the musculocutaneous nerve do
supplys all muscles of the anterior compartment of the arm
lateral cutaneous nerve of the forearm
