Upper Limb Flashcards
what are the 6 joints in the upper limb
acromioclavicular joint sternoclavicular joint glenohumeral joint elbow joint (humeroulnar and radiohumeraljoints) proximal radioulnar joint radiocarpal joint distal radioulnar joint
what type of joint is the acromoclavicular joint
plane type
what type of joint is the glenohumeral joint
ball and socket type
what type of joint is the elbow joint
hinge type
what type of joint is the proximal radioulnar joint
pivot type
what type of joint is the radiocarpal joint
ellipsoid type
what type of joint is the sternoclavicular joint
saddle type
what type of joint is the distal radioulnar joint
pivot type
does the radius or ulna move over the other during pronation
radius over ulna
what does the lateral (radial) collarteral ligament do
attahces from the lateral epicondyle of the humerus to the annular ligament
what does the annular ligament do
wraps round the radius keepig it close to the ulna (attaches to ulna on either side)
what are the types of joints in the hand
carpometacarpal joints
metacarpal joints
proximal interphalangeal joint
distal interphalangeal joint
what nerve innervates trapezius and where is it
CNXI
proximal attachment = C7-T12 spinous process, external occipital protuberance, nunchal line, nunchal ligament
distal attachment = lateral 3rd of clavicle, acromion and spine of scapula
what innervates latissimus dorsi and where is it
thoracodorsal nerve (C6, C7, C8)
proximal attachement = spinous process of inferior 6 thoracic vertebrae, thoracolumbar fascia, illiac crest and inferior 3/4 ribs
distal attachment = floor of intertubercular sulcus of humerus
what nerve innervates rhomboid minor and major and where are they
dorsal scapular nerve (C4, C5)
minor proximal attachement = nunchal ligament, spinous process of C7 and T1
minor distal attachment = smooth triangular area at medial end of scapular spine
major proximal attachment = spinous process of T2-T5 vertebrae
major distal attachment = medial border of scapula from spine to inferior angle
