Upper Limb I: The Shoulder Flashcards
1
Q
Axioappendicular
A
- Connect the axial skeleton to the upper limb
- Anterior structures part of pectoral region
- Posterior structures part of back region (specifically hypaxial since they act on the limbs)
2
Q
Scapulohumeral
A
-Connect the scapula to the humerus
3
Q
Rotator Cuff Muscles
A
- Subscapularis
- Supraspinatus
- Infraspinatus
- Teres minor
4
Q
Deltoid
A
- Action: Flexes, medially rotates, abducts, extends, and laterally rotates humerus
- Innervation: Axillary nerve
5
Q
Teres major
A
- Action: Adducts and medially rotates humerus
- Innervation: Lower subscapular nerve
6
Q
Supraspinatus
A
- Action: Works with deltoid in abduction of humerus, acts with other rotator cuff muscles in stabilizing shoulder joint
- Innervation: Suprascapular nerve
7
Q
Subscapularis
A
- Action: Medially rotates and adducts humerus helps hold humeral head in place
- Innervation: Upper and lower subscapular nerves
8
Q
Infraspinatus
A
- Action: Laterally rotates humerus, helps hold humeral head in place
- Innervation: Suprascapular nerve
9
Q
Teres minor
A
- Action: Laterally rotates humerus, helps hold humeral head in place
- Innervation: Axillary nerve
