Upper Limb Blood Supply Flashcards
Where do axillary arteries arise?
Lateral edge of 1st rib
Where do the posterior and anterior circumflex arteries arise?
Surgical neck humerus
Where does the sub scapular artery arise?
Surgical neck humerus
Which artery does the axillary artery become, and where does this occur?
Brachial artery, at the level of teres major
Where does the brachial artery give rise to the profunda brachii artery?
Immediately distal to teres major
Where does the profunda brachii artery run, and what does it supply?
Posterior surface of humerus in radial groove. Supplies structures in posterior aspect of arm e.g. triceps
What descends the arm immediately anterior to the brachial artery?
Median nerve
Where does the brachial artery terminate and what does it give rise to?
As it crosses the cubital fossa, deep to brachialis. Birfurcates into radial and ulnar arteries.
What are the contents of the cubital fossa?
"Really need beer to be at my nicest" Radial Nerve Biceps Tendon Brachial Artery Median Nerve
Which aspects of the forearm do the radial and ulnar arteries supply?
Radial: posterior
Ulnar: anterior
In the hand, what does the radial artery contribute to mainly?
Thumb, lateral index finger
In the hand, what does the ulnar artery contribute to mainly?
Supply of medial index finger and medial 3 digits
Which artery crosses the floor of the anatomical snuffbox?
Radial artery
Which artery supplies most to the superficial palmar arch? And to the deep?
Ulnar: superficial
Radial: deep
Where does the basilic vein originate?
Dorsal venous network of the hand
