16
Q

How does the tibial nerve enter the foot?

A

Posterior to medial malleolus, through the tarsal tunnel

17
Q

How does the tibial nerve descend the leg?

A

Posterior to the tibia

18
Q

What would be the result of damage to the tibial nerve

A

Loss of plantar flexion
Loss of toe flexion
Weakened inversion

19
Q

Common fibular nerve roots

A

L4-S3

20
Q

Common fibular nerve motor function

A

Short head of biceps femoris, muscles in lateral and anterior leg

21
Q

Common fibular nerve sensory function

A

Skin over posterolateral, anterolateral leg and dorsum of foot

22
Q

How does the common fibular nerve enter the lateral leg?

A

Wraps around the neck of the fibula. Here, it bifurcates into superficial and deep fibular nerves

23
Q

When is the common fibular nerve most commonly damaged?

A

Fracture of the fibula

24
Q

How would a patient present if they had damaged the common fibular nerve?

A

Loss of dorsiflexion - foot appears permanently plantarflexed = “foot drop”
Loss of sensation over dorsum of foot, lateral leg
