Upper limb Flashcards
sternoclavicular joint
Synovial joint with two cavities, intervening fibrocarilaginous disc. Atypical synovical joint as articular surfaces are covered in FIBROCARTILAGE (not hyaline)
acromioclavicular joint
Atypical synovial joint covered in fibrocartilage between the overhanging lateral end of the clavical and underhanging medial end of the acromion
costoclavicular ligament
Two portions: conoid ligament (that runs from the coracoid process in an inverted cone formation to the conoid tubercle on the underside of the clavicle) and the trapezoid ligament (that runs from the coracoid process almost horizontally to the trapezoid line on laterally on the inferior aspect of clavicle). Major stabilisation of the acromioclavicular joint.
