Q

What is Thoracic Outlet Syndrome?

A

Thoracic Outlet Syndrome happens when the subclavian artery and vein, along with the brachial plexus, are compressed as they leave the neck and travel down the arm.

Q

What type of dysfunction does hard end feel of the AC joint and a superior scapular spine indicate?

A

A hard end feel of the AC joint combined with a superior scaular spine indicate a superior AC joint.

To treat a superior AC joint with muscle energy, place the patients arm on your knee and supinate the hand.

Q

Winged scapula combined with weak shoulder shrugging.

What muscle is affected?

What is the nerve?

A

A winged scapula can be caused by many things. If it is combined with a weakened shrug it is caused by the trapezius.

The trapezius is innervated by the spinal accessory nerve.

Q

Adduction of the thumb is controlled by what nerve?

A

Adduction of the thumb is controlled by the adductor pollicis muscle.

The adductor pollicis muscle is the only muscle of the thenar eminence innervated by the ULNAR nerve (the rest are innervated by the median nerve)

Q

What nerve controls forearm pronation?

A

Forearm pronation is performed by the pronator teres and pronator quadratus.

Both muscles are innervated by the median nerve.

Q

What nerve controls forearm supination?

A

Forearm supination is a function of the musculocutaneous nerve innervating the biceps brachii and the posterior interosseous division of the radial nerve innervating the supinator muscle.
