Upper arm muscles Flashcards
biceps brachii origin
long head; supraglenoid tubercle - short head; coracoid process of scapula
biceps brachii insertion
radial tuberosity - fascia of forearm via bicipital aponeurosis (lacertus fibrosis)
biceps brachii innervation
musculocutaneous nerve c5 + c6
biceps brachii blood supply
brachial artery and its branches
biceps brachii function
flexion of elbow and shoulder - supination of forearm
coracobrachialis origin
coracoid process of scapula
coracobrachialis insertion
anteromedial surface of humerus at level of deltoid tuberosity
coracobrachialis innervation
musculocutaneous nerve (C5-C7, mainly C7)
coracobrachialis blood supply
brachial artery
coracobrachialis function
flexion at glenohumeral joint - medial rotation - weak adduction
brachialis origin
medial and lateral surfaces of humeral shaft
brachialis insertion
ulnar tuberosity
brachialis innervation
musculocutaneous nerve c5, c6 (medially) - radial nerve c7 (laterally)
brachialis blood supply
brachial artery - radial recurrent artery
brachialis function
flexion of arm at elbow joint - also makes up floor of cubital fossa
triceps brachii origin
Long head: infraglenoid tubercle of scapula - Lateral head: posterior surface of humerus, superior to radial groove - Medial head: posterior surface of humerus, inferior to radial groove
triceps brachii insertion
olecranon of ulna
triceps brachii innervation
Radial nerve (C6, C7, C8) - in some humans, axillary nerve
triceps brachii blood supply
deep brachial artery - superior ulnar collateral artery
triceps brachii function
extension of elbow
