Extensor Carpi Radialis Brevis
Origin- common extensor tendon from the lateral epicondyle of humerous.
Insertion- Base of third metacarpal.
ACTIONS:
Extend the wrist
Abduct the wrist
Assist to flex the elbow
Extensor Carpi ulnaris
ORIGIN- Common extensor tendon from the lateral epicondyle of humorous.
INSERTION- Base of 5th metacarpal
ACTIONS:
Extend the wrist
Adduct the wrist
Pectoralis Minor
Origin- 3,4, 5th ribs
Insertion- Medial surface of coracoid process of the scapula
Actions:
Depress the scapula
Abduct the scapula
Downwardly rotate the scapula
Supraspinatus
Origin- supraspinous fossa of the scapula
Insertion- greater tubercle of the numerous
Actions:
Abduct the shoulder
Stabilize the head of the humerous in the glenoid cavity
Infraspinatus
Origin-
Infraspinous fossa of the scapula
Insertion- greater tubercle of the humerous
Actions:
Laterally rotate the shoulder
Adduct the shoulder
Stabilize head of humerous in glenoid cavity
Teres minor
Origin- upper 2/3 of lateral boarder of scapula
Insertion- greater tubercle of the humerous
Actions:
Laterally rotate the shoulder
Adduct the shoulder
Stabilize head of humerous in glenoid cavity
Pectoralis major
Origin- medial 1/2 of clavicle, sternum, and costal cartilage of 1-6 ribs
Insertion- crest of greater tubercle
Actions:
(All fibers) adduct the shoulder
Medially rotate shoulder
(Upper) flex the shoulder
Horizontally adduct the shoulder
(Lower) Extend the shoulder

Origin- transverse process of 1-4th cervical vertebrae
Insertion- medial boarder of the scapula, between superior angle and superior portion of spine of scapula
Actions:
(Uni) elevated scapula
Downwardly rotate
Laterally flex the head and neck
(Bi) Extend the head and neck
Latissimus dorsi
Origin- posterior iliac crest, thoracolumbar aponeurosis, spinous process of T12- T6, last 3-4 ribs and inferior angle of scapula
Insertion- bicipital groove of the humerous
Actions:
Extend the shoulder
Adduct the shoulder
Medially rotate the shoulder
Teres major
Origin- inferior angle and lower 1/3 of lateral boarder of scapula
Insertion- crest of lesser tubercle of the humerous
Actions:
Extend the shoulder
Adduct the shoulder
Medially rotate the shoulder
Deltoid
Origin- lateral 1/3 of clavicle, acromion and spine of scapula
Insertion- Deltoid tuberosity
Actions:
(All) Abduct the shoulder
(Anterior) flex the shoulder
Medially rotate the shoulder
Horizontally adduct the shoulder
(Posterior) Extend the shoulder
Laterally rotate the shoulder
Horizontally adduct the shoulder
Biceps brachii
Origin- (short head) coracoid process of scapula
(Long head) supraglenoid tubercle of scapula
Insertion- tuberosity of the radius and aponeurosis of the bicep brachial
Actions:
Flex the elbow
Supinate the forearm
Flex the shoulder
Triceps brachii
Origin-
(Long head) infraglenoid tubercle of the scapula
(Lateral head) posterior surface of proximal 1/2 of humerous
(Medial head) posterior surface of distal 1/2 of humerous
Insertion- olecranon process of the ulnar
Actions:
(All heads) Extend the elbow
(Long head) Extend the shoulder
Adduct the shoulder
Pronator teres
Origin- common flexor tendon from medial epicondyle of humerous and coranoid process of the ulnar
Insertion- middle of lateral surface of the radius
Actions:
Pronate the forearm
Assist to flex the elbow
Flexor carpi radialis
Origin- common flexor tendon from medial epicondyle of humerous
Insertion- base of 2 and 3rd metacarpals
Actions:
Flex the wrist
Abduct the wrist
May Assist to flex the elbow
