ORIGIN- Anterior inferior iliac spine (AIIS)
INSERTION- tibial tuberosity (via patella and patellar ligament)
ACTIONS:
(ALL) Extend the knee
Flex the knee
Vastus medialis
ORIGIN- Medial lip of linear aspera
INSERTION- Tibial tuberosity (via the patella and patellar ligament)
Vastus lateralis
ORIGIN- Lateral lip of linear aspera, gluteal tuberosity, greater trochanter
INSERTION- Tibial tuberosity (via the patella and patellar ligament)
Bicep femoris
ORIGIN-
(LONG HEAD)- Ischial tuberosity
(SHORT HEAD) - Lateral lip of linear aspera
INSERTION- HEAD of fibula
ACTIONS
FLEX KNEE
LATERALLY ROTATE FLEXED KNEE
EXTEND THE HIP
Semitendenosis
ORIGIN- Ischial tuberosity
INSERTION- Proximal, medial shaft of the tibia at the pens anserinum tendon
ACTIONS:
FLEX THE KNEE
MEDIALLY ROTATE THE KNEE
Gluten maximus
ORIGIN- coccyx, edge of sacrum, posterior iliac crest,sacrotuberous and sacrifice ligament
INSERTON-
(UPPER) Iliotibial tract
(LOWER) Gluteal tuberosity
ACTIONS:
(ALL) ABduct the hip
(LOWER) ADduct the hip
Gluten medius
ORIGIN- gluteal surface of the ilium, between posterior and anterior gluteal line, just below the iliac crest
INSERTION- Lateral aspect of the greater trochanter
ACTIONS:
(ALL) ABduct the hip
(ANTERIOR) Flex the hip
(POSTERIOR) Extend the hip
Gastrocnemius
ORIGIN- Epicondyle of femur, posterior surfaces
INSERTION- Calcanea via calcaneous tendon
ACTIONS:
Flex the knee
Planter flex the foot
Soleus
ORIGIN- Soleol line, proximal, posterior surface of the tibia and posterior aspect of the fibula
INSERTION- Calcanea via the calcaneal tendon
ACTIONS:
Planter flex the foot
