Q
peptic ulcer disease
+
a history of renal disease
A
Aluminum hydroxide
Aluminum hydroxide lowers serum phosphate by binding with dietary phosphorus to form insoluble aluminum phosphate. The phosphate is then excreted in the feces. Aluminum hydroxide will not affect the renal system as much as other antacids. Magnesium oxide, magnesium and calcium, and an aluminum and magnesium combination are partially excreted by the kidneys; therefore, they may cause a problem in clients with renal disease.
