What are the principles of an unsignalled movement?
Obtain authority for the movement
Know how and when the movement is to start

Why may a signaller authorise a movement past a s.a.d. without an MA?
Defective signal
Defective ERTMS
Signal can’t be cleared, MA can’t be sent due to faulty equipment
Shunting purposes
Signal can’t be cleared due to train starting beyond that signal
In an emergency so a train carrying passengers can enter an occupied section to use the platform
Line to be examined to check that it is clear

Why the signal needs to be passed at danger or EOA passed without an MA
How far the movement can proceed
When may you accept a yellow hand signal as authority to pass a signal at danger?
If you have stopped at the signal and the handsignaller has given you the necessary instructions

When can the signaller authorise you to pass two red signals without introducing TBW or ESW?
When all the following apply:
Same fault means neither signal can display proceed
First signal is held at danger and second is not displaying any aspect
No main aspect distant signal between the two stop signals
Line clear beyond the second stop signal up to the next stop signal
Next signal beyond second main aspect stop signal is showing proceed
What must you do when passing two stop signals at danger outside of ESW and TBW?
Pass the two signals Ignore gpls unless told otherwise Obey all subsequent signals Not travel more than 50 mph until reaching the functioning signal Then proceed at appropriate speed
