Exposition
Revealing the key details about character, setting, situation, commonly at the start of a narrative;
- often descriptive, may be revealed through dialogue or the narrator’s commentary.
anaphora
the repetition of a word or phrase at the beginning of successive clauses.
- My life is my purpose. My life is my goal.
chiasmus
grammatical constructions, or concepts are repeated in reverse order.
- “Never let a fool kiss you or a kiss fool you.”
Litotes
- double negatives for emphasis.
- “not bad”, “He’s not unintelligent”
- “neither unthinking, nor unseeing”.
Tricolon
