Engine failure in the Cruise

PF Set Thrust Levers to MCT, Disconnect A/thr PF then select speed according to strategy There are three strategies available for dealing with an engine failure in the cruise:

• The standard strategy…0.78/300kt(relight)
• The obstacle strategy…descend green dot
• The fixed speed strategy……….for ETOPS

Unless a specific procedure has been established before dispatch (considering ETOPS or mountainous areas), the standard strategy is used. Select Hdg to keep clear of airway, preferably towards an Alternate and considering CP Select apporpriate OEI Atitude (from PROG page and/or QRH) in the ALT window, Pull for Open descent.

STD Strategy =M0.78/300 for relight.If V/S is less than 500fpm, set 500 V/S

Obstacle Strategy = Green dot drift down.

CAUTION:Pressing the EO CLR key on the MCDU restores the all engine operative predictions and performance. Reverting to one engine-out performance again is not possible.
