what is dynamic h&w
It means that it is continually changing and fluctuating as a result of internal or external factors, for example someone could have optimal physical health and well-being and then they tear their acl and no longer able to play sport and keep their optimal fitness levels and are therefore no longer at optimal physical health and well-being. They could get surgery and recover and be able to return to sport and are now at their optimal physical h&w
subjective h&q
Interpretation of health is influenced by a persons opinions, beliefs and feelings, meaning one persons interpretation of health&wellbeing may be different to another. For example one person may think being physically fit is healthy and another may think being mentally happy is healthy.

HALE, health adjusted life expectancy
The average length of time an individual at a specific age is expected to live in full health, without the presence of disease or injury
Burden of disease
A measure of the impact of diseases and injuries in the population, specifically the gap between our populations current health status and an ideal world where everyone lives to old age free of disease, and disability. Measured using DALY
DALY, disability adjusted life year
Measures burden of disease. One DALY is equal to 1 year of healthy life lost due to premature death and illness. It’s calculated as the sum of YLL(years of life lost due to premature death) and YLD(years of life lost due to disability or a health condition).
YLL, years of life lost
A measure of how many years of expected life are lost due to premature death.
YLD, years lived with a disability
