Build healthy public policy
Relates directly to decisions made by government and organisations in relation to laws and policies that effect h&w.
Eg. removing goods & services tax and increased tax on alcoholic drinks
Create supportive environments
Promotes h&w by being safe, stimulating and enjoyable, supportive environments. Promotes h&w by helping people practice healthy behaviours. Eg. providing safe work environment
Strengthen community action
Focuses on building links between individuals and community and centres around the community working together to achieve a common goal. Eg. Immunisation strategies
Develop personal skills
Education is the key aspect of this action area. Education refers to gaining health- related knowledge. Eg. school and work settings. A community health centre running cooking classes. Quit campaign. Educating parents.
Reorient health services
Refers to reorientating the health system so it promotes h&w as opposed to focusing only on diagnosing & treating illness, this is the case with the bio medical model. Eg. medical professionals recommending physical activity.
