Unit3 AOS3 - Newton's Laws of Motion Flashcards
Newtons First Law
Every object continues to be at rest, or continues with a constant velocity, unless it experiences an unbalanced force
Newtons Second Law
The acceleration of a body experiencing an unbalanced force is directly proportional to the next force and inversely proportional to the mass of the body
Newtons Third Law
When one body exerts a force on another body (action force), the second body exerts an equal force in the opposite direction (reaction force)
Forces on an Inclined Plane
- Force due to Gravity (acts vertically downwards)
- Normal Force (acts perpendicular to the inclined plane)
- Drag or Thrust forces can be applied optionally
Calculating the Net Force on a Perpendicular Plane
Transform the gravity into its two components (one that is perpendicular & parallel to the plane) - then visualize as a triangle and solve with trig
