choice and control
enables people to make their own choice and have control over how their care is delivered to them
personal budget
the agreed amount of money to help deliver a support plan. it is a mean tested cash payment made in the place of regular social service and they depend on the persons finance
direct payment
direct cash payment to that person or a nominated person. the person can spend the money as they please but it has to be related to their care plan. this money cannot be spent on long term residential care
managed account
they are not payed directly to the person
the local authority controls it to give individuals choice about their care
the individual needs to know how much money is available
lack mental capacity
not being able to make a reasonable choice or understand information
