A

A

It was hard, as only the rich could afford to colonize and they didn’t know how to farm, nor did they want to know, so nearly half of them died the first winter. The government argued with themselves instead of making plans for the colony.

A

John SMith forced the colonists to farm and not spend their time looking for gold, otherwise they wouldn’t get anything from the community stores, and he also made tobacco a cash crop so that they economy there improved.

A

The puritans wanted to purify and refine the C of E, while the Pilgrims wanted to be even stricter than the C of E, and both of these views are extremist.

A

Land was something to be owned and sold to make a profit

What was the Native American view of land?

A

That if you took care of it you had a right to it, so someone couldn;t force you off, but they could also live with you. You can sell what you can carry away to be sold, but cannot sell the land itself. They had a very spiritual connection with the land as well.

A

Beaver and Beaver skins

Why did the French have a better relationship with the Native Americans than the British?

A

The British expanded quickly, taking land without asking or need for it, and were not kind to the Native Americans. On the other hand, the French lived among the Native Americans and Traded with them, building up trust, as well as following their customs and expanding slower than the British.

Why did the French and Indian War break out?

A

The British wanted the resources in the Ohio river valley and the french were using it, so they fought, with most Native Americans on the French side, and only a few nations promising bare neutrality to the British.
