Political Ideologies and Beliefs
What is the Social Contrast
A government that works based on consent. Citizens give up some of their rights in return for protection from the government.
What is political Efficacy
How effective someone believes their vote is. People who distrust the government have a low political efficacy.
What is Political Socialization and what are some factors?
- The process of learning about the government and develop beliefs, attitudes, values, and behaviors associated with good citizenship.
- Some factors are ethnicity, family, peers, location, education, gender, and age.
What do Liberals believe in?
Most democrats are liberal. They believe in less government control in social policy and more government control in the economy.
What do Conservatives believe in?
Most republicans are conservative. They believe in more government control in social policy and less government control in the economy.
What do libertarians believe in?
They believe in a weaker government that has little control in everything
What do plopulists believe in?
They believe that the government should regulate in favor of all the people. This belief is often the opposition of the elitist democracy.
How do you create a scientific poll?
- Define the population
- Gather a sample where the whole population has an equal chance to be chosen for
- Construct a question that avoids bias
What is Fiscal policy?
The regulation of budgets and tax
What is Monetary policy?
the regulation of the nation’s money supply
