Q

How does an electric pulp tester work?

A

Generates an electric signal that increases on a scale from 0-80. Toothpaste is the conductor and the patient holds the wand against the tooth until they feel the sensation in the pulp. When they let go the circuit is broken and auto resets to 0

16
Q

What is the chemical of endo ice?

A

1,1,1,2, TetraFluoro

17
Q

Is it better to use a large cotton pellet or small with endo ice?

A

Large

18
Q

To what is the cotton pellet applied to when using endo ice?

A

Buccal surface of tooth or full coverage restoration

19
Q

Is endo ice more effective on anterior or posterior teeth?

A

Anterior

20
Q

What is a big difference between the testing ability of the endo spray and the electric pulp tester?

A

The endo ice can be used on full coverage restorations, the EPT connot

21
Q

What would an abnormal response to the endo ice be?

A

Prolonged or severe pain and/or different in characteristics of the adjacent teeth

22
Q

What could result in a false positive?

A

Transference of the sensation to adjacent teeth or soft tissue due to a receded or constricted pulp

23
Q

What does a pulp reading of +++ mean?

A

Severe pain that doesn’t go away when stimulus is removed

24
Q

What is the symbol for a pulp test that had slight pain that is immediately reversed?

A

+

25
Q

About how long does it take to get an anterior tooth numb after injection?

A

5 mins

26
Q

How long does it take to numb a posterior tooth?

A

15 mins

27
Q

What is the benefit of using a vasoconstrictor?

A

Increase duration of anesthesia

28
Q

Which works better for the Lateral incisors? Articaine or Lidocaine?

A

Articaine

29
Q

What is true about giving two carpules in the maxilla that isn’t true in the mandible?

A

Two carpules in the maxilla will MORE than double the duration.

30
Q

What teeth does a V2 Block work for?

A

Maxillary Molars

31
Q

Which molars does a PSA block NOT work on?

A

First Molars

32
Q

For what teeth does an Infraorbital nerve block not work well for?

A

Maxillary Incisors

33
Q

What will a palatal injection do for maxillary molars?

A

Increase the level of anesthesia
