Margins
Blank areas between the edge of the text and the edge of the page.
Portrait
Pages is taller than it is wide.
Landscape
Page is wider than tall
Mirror Margins
Used in document with facing pages-such as magazine.
Gutter
adds extra space to the left, top, or inside margin to allow you to find it.
Section
portion of a document that is separated from the rest of the document by section breaks.
Section Breaks
Formatting marks that you insert in a document to show the end of a section right click the status bar.
Next page break
begins a new section and moves the text following the break to the top of next page.
Continous break
begins a new section on same page.
Even page break
begins a new section and moves text following the break to the top of the next even numbered page.
Odd page break
begins a new section and moves text following the break to the top of the next odd numbered page.
Dividing
a document into sections allow you to vary the layout of a document.
Automatic page break
allows you to continue typing on the next page when you reach the bottom.
Manual page break
allows you to insert a manual page break before you get to the end of the page.
Widow
prevents a page from beginning with just the last line of a paragraph
Orphan
prevents a page from ending with only the first line of a new paragraph.
Column break
forces the text following the break to begin at the top of the next column.
Text wrapping
forcers the text following the break to begin at the beginning of the next line.
Formatting in columns
often makes the text easier to read.
Field
code that serves as a placeholder for data that changes in a document.
Insert tab
to add a page number.
Quick parts
items you can insert include fields, such as current data, author, title-will update automatically.
Header
text or graphics that appears at the top of every page.
Footer
text or graphics that appears at the bottom of every page.
