Ecosystem*
Any place or location where living and nonliving things interact.
Biotic Factors*
The living parts of an ecosystem.
Abiotic Factors*
The nonliving parts of the ecosystem
Speices
a group of animals, plants or other living things that share common characteristics and are able to reproduce.
Population*
a group of organisms of the same species that live in a particular area.
Community*
all the populations of different species that live and interact in the same place form a community.
The Needs of Living Things
WaterFood/Nutrients (for movement, health, growth, repair), Energy, Oxygen, Suitable living conditions (shelter, clothing, heat)
Symbiotic Relationships*
A relationship between different species which benefits either or both species.
Commensalism*
One species receives the benefit the other is uneffected.
Mutualism*
Both species benefit.
Parasitism*
One species benefits while one is harmed.
Adaptation*
Some individuals of a species survive quite well in an ecosystem while others do not. Over several generations the offspring of a species become suited to the area in which they live. They change or adapt to meet all their needs.

Physical characteristic (skin, scales, feet, wings, mouth parts
