many things were made at home (COTTAGE) or by specific individuals (SPECIALTY)

MAJOR era for industrial growth starting in England then spread (late 1700s into the 1800s)
What are some of the Industrialized countries?
England,U.S., Germany, and Japan (STILL lead the way today)
What was Phase 1 of Industrialization?
spread of ideas beyond England to North America (helped with expansion and relocation diffusion)(powered by steam, coal, & water)
What was Phase 2 of Industrialization?
machines & metal parts (late 19th century {1800s}) (powered by electricity and petroleum)
What was Phase 3 of Industrialization?
Computers, miniaturization, automation (post WWII) (powered by new corporations and more service industries ($))
What is Service-Based?
jobs focused on sales, info, banking, R&D
What was Phase 4 of Indsutrialization?
global internet- based (21st century) (computer chips, AI, AR, robotics, & satellites)
What is Fordism?
part of the 2nd phase of industrialization(early 1900s)- Henry Ford perfected the assembly line/ mass production , hiring employees in Detroit at $5/ day , making his car “AfFORDable”
What is deindustrialiation?
When industrial facilities close and decrease a region’s economy because of closures
What is a Primary economy?
Agriculture, raw materials, ranching (basic)
