In fact in the modern world not having high street shops is an option with many retailers not putting expensive sales outlets in the high street and instead relying on online shops with a much lower cost instead.
Advantages of Online Shopping?
24 hour shopping, 365 days a year.
Location of ‘shop’ is not relevant, customers can be anywhere.
Currency is not an issue.
Price comparison sites allow you to find the cheapest product.
People with disabilities that make getting to the shops hard can still be active consumers.
Disadvantages of Online Shopping?
Promotes a tendency to be lethargic.
Doing things via your computer can reduce human interactions thus making people less sociable. This leads to isolation and can lead to depression.
How has technology affected the administration side to medicine?
A doctor treating a patient can see all of the notes written by other doctors, the results of other tests or treatments which allow them to make very well informed decisions on care now and in the future.
How has technology affected the treatment side to medicine?
Computers interpret scans from things like MRI scanners and deliver images that professionals can understand and act on.
Computers have been used to help people with visual and audio impairments. The use of computers to design artificial limbs is common place.
Computers are also used to conduct remote operations, guiding lesser skilled surgeons with procedures where needed.
Disadvantage on how technology has affected medicine?
The use and reliance on technology can make people depend too much on information and less on the actual skills and awareness of the doctor.
Non-experts are seeking information as a first point of call from websites rather than relying on the doctor. A little knowledge can be dangerous especially if based on incorrect information or taken solely from a book or webpage.

Most schools use electronic registration to track student attendances over time.
This allows schools to immediately contact parents if a student is unexpectedly absent.
Student information, provided by all teachers, can be used to identify those in need of additional support.
Performance in lessons and subjects can be tracked and compared to earlier outcomes. It can also be used to predict future outcomes.

Teachers benefit from ICT in lessons as it allows pre- preparation of presentation resources and handouts.
Electronic tracking systems allow teachers to control the access students have to websites and other resources.
Other tools such as SMART board tools allow for more interactive lessons.

Students benefit from access to the internet and a huge range of information to support their studies.
The use of interactive tools in lessons, VLEs and other software allow students to better engage with the materials that they are learning.
Testing can be conducted automatically and results provided immediately.

Computers can perform the same actions over and over again quickly and reliably.
Computers can search large volumes of information very quickly.
Computers can perform tasks that are hazardous or impossible for humans to do.
Disadvantage of using ICT?
The main limitation for ICT is the development of Hardware.
