Product Moment Correlation Coefficient (PMCC)

A

Determines the strength of a relationship between two variables
• represented by the letter r
• between -1 and 1 (closer to 1 = stronger positive correlation, closer to -1 = stronger negative correlation)

How to work of the PMCC on a calculator

A

• Press MODE
• Select 2:STAT
• Select 2:A+BX
• Type the values into the table using the = button to enter them in. Use the arrow keys to select different cells in the table
• Press AC
• Press SHIFT then 1
• Select 5:Reg
• Select 3:r then press =
• This will give you r, the Product Moment Correlation Coefficient for the data
