book two treatises of government, divine rights of kings where. Human beings had natural rights such as life, liberty, and happiness that were not granted by a king but by a living human being. As such it should be humans should be holding power in the Government
Social contract
The contract between people and government, where people are willing to give up some of their power to the government is willing to protect their natural rights.(Furthermore if the people also had the right to flush the Government if they where not protecting their natural rights)
Nationalism
A strong identification of a group of people who shared ethnic identity share ethnic identity and language.
what problems did this cause in Europe and across the world.
Prob bc Europe had spent centuries building up multi-ethnic empires.
Human equality also spread during this time period leading to many revolutions.

Published a book called the wealth of nations, his critique of the mercantilist economy of Europe.(which required a lot of Government involvement)

Adam Smith, idea in the government should take hands off and let things go(addressed specifically to the French)
