Landform
Part of Earth’s surface that has a certain shape and is formed naturally
Example: hills, mountains, cliffs, flat areas
Layers of the Earth

Earth’s outer layer
Made of solid rock
Mantle
The layer below the crust
Made of soft, hot rock
Outer Core
A layer of liquid metals at the center of Earth
Inner Core
A ball of solid metals at Earth’s center
Valley
The low land between mountains or hills
The sides are usually not steep
Canyon
A valley with steep sides
Some rivers make canyons as they flow
Mountains
Landforms that are higher than the surrounding land
Formed when 2 or more pieces of Earth’s crust push together or formed by volcanoes
Hills rounded but smaller than mountains
Plain
Flat land that spreads out over a long distance.
Wide open spaces
Plateau
Flat land which is higher than the land around it
Formed when flat land is pushed high up by the movement of Earths crust
