Entertainment [noun]
the action of providing or being provided with amusement or enjoyment
e.g. everyone just sits in front of the television for entertainment
Box office [noun]
place at a theatre, cinema, etc. where tickets are bought or reserved; used to refer to the commercial success of a film, play, or actor in terms of the audience size or takings that they command
e.g. the movie was a huge box office hit
Cast [noun]
actors in a film.
e.g. the cast in ‘Titanic’ was truly amazing.
Heroine [noun]
a female hero
e.g. she was a true feminist heroine
Essential [adj.]
extremely important.
e.g. fast-moving action is essential
Suspense [noun]
a state or feeling of excited or anxious uncertainty about what may happen
e.g. come on, Fran, don’t keep me in suspense!
Contain [verb]
have or hold (someone or something) within
e.g. the cigarettes were thought to contain cannabis
Plot [noun]
the main events of a play, novel, film, or similar work
e.g. the plot consists almost entirely of a man and woman falling in love
Setting [noun]
the place or type of surroundings where something is positioned or where an event takes place
e.g. a romantic house in a wonderful setting beside the River Thames

seeking distraction and relief from unpleasant realities, especially by seeking entertainment or engaging in fantasy
e.g. It’s such an escapist film that I forgot about my exams.
