Focus on the ideas being presented rather than formatting

What is Plagiarism?
Presenting the words, ideas or images of another as one’s own
-> denies the original author credit
What are the consequences of plagiarism?
Violation of ethical standards
-> rejection from publication
-> possible sanctions
-> censure of place of employment
-> exclusion from applying federal funding
What are the consequences for students who plagiarise work?
Failing grade

Act of presenting one’s own previously published work as original
