What was the Emergency Banking Act
Banks closed for 4 days in 1933, to restore confidence in the financial system
What did the Emergency Banking Act help to do
Helped him reopen only financially stable banks, rebuilding confidence in banks (fewer people were rushing to withdraw their savings) and ending the banking crisis
What were ‘fireside chats’
Via the radio, FDR explained the new laws and alphabet agencies to the American people
How many ‘fireside chats’ did FDR do
He did this 30 times
How did the ‘fireside chats’ help FDR
Increased the support for the New Deal amongst Americans as well as encouraging them to put their savings in banks again to help stabilise them
How was the TVA controlled
It was federally controlled, since southern states weren’t doing enough to help the poor

7 states Tennessee, Alabama, Mississipi, Kentucky, Georgia, North Carolina and Virginia (TAMKGNV)
What were the TVA’s aims
To redevelop the TV to create employment and reduce the effects of the Dust Bowl

It generated hydro-electricity for local farms which boosted productivity

Up to 20, creating jobs and allowing the flooding to be controlled in the area for farmers

To improve the quality of soil
