Unit 4- Triangles Flashcards
Right Triangle
A triangle with 1 right angle
Obtuse Triangle
A triangle with 1 obtuse angle
Scalene Triangle
A triangle with no comgruent sides
Isosceles Triangle
A triangle with 2 or more comgruent sides
Equilateral Triangle
A triangle with 3 comgruent sides
Interior Angle of a Triangle
1 of the 3 original angles in a triangle
Exterior Angles of a Triangle
Angles that are adjacent to and form a linear pair with the interior angles of a triangle. Each vertex has a pair of exterior angles
Leg of a Right Triangle
In a right triangle, the 2 sides that are adjacent to the right angle are the legs of the triangle
Hypotenuse of a Right Triangle
In a right triangle, the side opposite to the right angle is the hypotenuse of the triangle
Leg of an Isosceles Triangle
In an isosceles triangle the comgruent sides are called the legs
Base of an Isosceles Triangle
In an isosceles triangle the non-congruent side is called the base
Vertex of a Triangle
An angle consists of 2 different rays that have the same initial point; the initial point is the vertex
Congruent Triangles
If triangle ABC is congruent to triangle PQR, then there is a correspondence between their angle’s sides such that the corresponding sides are congruent and the angles are comgruent
Acute Triangle
A triangle with 3 acute angles
