Suez Crisis
The French and British controlled the Suez canal, but then Egypt tried to take over it. Britain and France decided to attack Egypt. The Soviet Union said they would give Egypt missiles, and the U.S then decided to step in.

- FLQ Separatist terrorist group arrests Quebec politicians in October 1970

Policies in Canada wanted to separate Indigenous people from their own children.
- Gov’t said it had something to do with the minimal supervision, under-resourced, and under-serviced
- Gov’t should have sent help to the community instead
Inuit Dog Slaughter
- Dogs were killed because of the disease spreading
- Dogs were often used in hunting and transportation for Indigenous people
- Caused a lot of crisis and hurt within the Indigenous Community

- Inuit were relocated up North and wanted to move back but worried not to challenge in the gov’t
- Asserting Canadian sovereignty
- Wanted to stop Greenlandic hunters who were poaching polar bears
- broken promises (not enough resources, could not return home after 2 years, could not remain in one community were not supplied adequate resources and shelter )

- take away the Indian act and the federal gov’t obligations to treaty rights
- make sure that indigenous Canadians had the same rights
