  • Interpersonal communication is a transactional process and inherently relational
  • a process because all components are in constant change and it changes the relationship constantly
  • Involves the exchange of verbal and non-verbal messages
  • It involves making choices ex. What you will say, what face you’ll make
  • It takes place in different contexts
    – Synchronous communication: interactions can take place in real time
    – Asynchronous communication: interactions do not take place at a real time
  • It is inevitable and irreversible - can’t take it back, but u can change it
