Q

Photosynthesis

A

Check Image: Chloroplast

#Check Image: Leaf structure

The process that takes place in green areas in the plants that help in preparing the plant’s own food.

It turns Co2, H2O in the presence of sunlight into glucose and Oxygen.

Equation:
1)CO2 + H2O → C6H12O6 + O2
2)Carbon Dioxide + Water → Glucose + Oxygen

Calvin Cycle:
Photosynthesis has 2 stages
1)Light dependent: Traps the light energy and takes place in the thylakoids because it contains the light sensitive pigment (chlorophyll).

2)Light Independent: Produce glucose and takes place in the Stroma of chloroplast.

Q

Transportation system also known as Circulatory system in Animals and plants (Basic knowledge)

A

The group of organs helping in the transport of nutrients, gases, hormones and waste products throughout the body.

Animals:
1)Blood carries the nutrients and the oxygen.
2)Blood vessels contain the blood.
3)The heart pumps the blood.

2 types open circulation eg: insects and closed circulation eg: humans

closed circulation 2 types:

single circulation: Blood Enters the heart one time. eg: Fish

Double circulation: Blood enters the heart two times. eg: Humans

Plants:
The vascular bundle is responsible for transportation.
It contains 2 parts:

Xylem which transport water and minerals from soil. (unidirectional).

Phloem which transport food prepared by the leaves throughout the body.

Q

Movement of molecules

A

Diffusion:
Transport of particles from a high concentrated region to a region of lower concentration of the transported substance without energy.

Osmosis:
Transport of solvent (dissolving medium) particles through a semi-permeable membrane from a solution of low solute concentration to a solution with higher solute concentration without energy.

Active transport:
Transport of a substance from lower to higher concentration of the substance through a living cell membrane with the use of energy from the cell.
