autonomy - patients have the right to make their own decisions
beneficence - care should be for the ultimate benefit of the patient
non-maleficence - no harm to patient
justice - patients treated fairly
Describe conflict of interest and how it relates to healthcare.
- when medical personnel receives benefit (monetary or gift) for providing certain services to patients
Identify 3 ways to ensure confidentiality.
- privacy of patient information
- physical privacy (door shut/curtains closed)
- releasing patient info to appropriate people only
Define informed consent and how HSC’s play a role in providing this for patients.
- when a patient is explained the benefits and risks of a procedure and the patient gives permission to perform that procedure

Identify the key points and considerations the HSC uses in documentation.
- document patient care, education, and significant events
- documentation should be accurate, thorough, and timely
