Jaeger chart
- test close vision
- chart with paragraphs types in different size fonts
- patient holds chart 14-16” away from eyes
ishihar plates
- tests for color vision
- numbers printed in colored dots against a background of contrasting colors
- normal test = patient able to accurately identify numbers

bacterial infection of the throat and tonsils caused by streptococcal bacteria
common symptoms
- sudden severe sore throat
- fever >101
- swollen tonsils and lymph nodes (glands)
- white/yellow patches in back bright red throat

• infectious droplets
• sharing food/drink - incubation period(time exposed to time you experience symptoms)= 2-5 days
diagnosis
- rapid strep test: • back of throat is swabbed • results within minutes • can have false negatives - throat culture: • back of throat is swabbed • takes 2 days • most accurate
treatment
- antibiotics
• contagious for 24 hours - acetaminophen or ibuprofen
complications
- spread of i️infection
- inflammatory reaction
• kidney inflammation
• rheumatic fever
> joint inflammation
> heart valve damage
• scarlet fever
