THRILLER
a book, play or film/movie with an exciting story, especially one about crime or spying
HORROR FILMS
is designed to frighten people
Example: Anabelle
ACTION FILM
a film/movie that has a lot of exciting action and adventure
HISTORICAL DRAMA
Films based upon historical events and famous people
Example: 12 years a slave.
SCIENCE FIICTION FILMS
is based on imagined scientific discoveries of the future, and often deals with space travel and life on other planets
Example: Back to the future
TERRIFIC
excellent; wonderful
SET IN
where and when the story happens
example: War horse is set in England and Europe during the First World War
REVIEW
An examination of something, with the intention of changing it if necessary.
TERRIFYING
making somebody feel extremely frightened
TERRIBLE
very unpleasant; making you feel very unhappy, upset or frightened
CRITIC
a person who expresses opinions about the good and bad qualities of books, music, etc.
CRITICISM
A statement showing disapproval
SPECIAL EFFECTS
Unusual or exciting pieces of action in films/movies or television programmes, that are created by computers or clever photography to show things that do not normally exist or happen
SCENE
a part of a film/movie, play or book in which the action happens in one place or is of one particular type
Example: The movie opens with a scene in a New York apartment.
