GET PAID
Receiving money for doing work
Example: I got paid this week for taking care of my cousin’s daughter
GET ON/OFF
go into/leave (public transport)
Examples: get on the bus, get off the train.
GET DRESSED
To put on clothes
e.g. I took a shower, got dressed and then went out for a walk
GET INTO TROUBLE
To get into a situation that is difficult or dangerous
e.g. He always gets into trouble with the police
GET LONELY
Feeling unhappy as a result of of being without the companionship of others.
Example: I get lonely if I’m not with her.
GET READY
To be prepared for doing an action
Example: Get ready to go to school.
GET TO MEET
given the opportunity to meet somebody
Example: I got to meet Morrisey
GET OUT OF BED
Wake up
e.g. I got out of bed at 10 o’ clock
GET THE (TRANSPORT)

Example: get the train, get the bus
GET EXERCISE
To do exercise
e.g. I don’t get as much exercise as I would like to
GET TO (SOMEWHERE)
To arrive to a place
Example: I always get late to school.
GET SOMEONE TO DO
make someone do something/persuade someone to do something
Example: he got us to clean the car.
GET BY
To manage to live or do a particular thing using the money, knowledge, equipment, etc. that you have
e.g. I can’t speak French very well, but I always manage to get by with a dictionary.
GET OVER SOMEONE/SOMETHING
to get better after an illness, or feel better after something or someone has made you unhappy
Example: she didn’t get over her heartbreak yet.
GET REQUESTS
Receive a petition
Example: I got requested to play music in class.
