What problem did we have in the economy after the revolution?
After the revolution we had a lot of debt that was left after we won the war.

What did they try to fix the economy?
Hamilton had a financial plan to pull the country out of debt.

What did tariffs do to the government?
Tariffs provided revenue to the national government and encourages people to spend their money in America.

What were the alien and sedition acts?
Alien acts made it more difficult to become a citizen and therefore get the right to vote. sedition acts made it illegal to speak out against the government or the president.

What is Impressment and the embargo act?
The British are kidnapping sailors at sea and forcing them into the British Navy . Jefferson passes the Embargo acts which halts all trade between the Americas and the rest of the world.
What events happened when Madison declared on Britain.
The star spangled banner is written, Andrew Jackson becomes a war hero, white House is burned down, and The war would eventually end with the treaty of Ghent in 1814

What was the Ear of Good Feelings?
After war everyone feels good about being an American, They had gone up against the most powerful nation and won.

What was the Monroe Doctrine?
The Monroe Doctrine warned all European countries against colonizing anywhere in the western hemisphere.

What was the Marbury v. Madison court case?
Marbury sued the Supreme court to require Madison to give him commission. This would give Marbury a federal government job.

The XYZ affair was when Adams sent diplomats to France to try to negotiate peace, the diplomats were never seen by the French foreign minister, instead they were met by agents who called themselves X, Y, and Z
