unit 4 aos 2 9c the relationship between SDG3 and other SDGs Flashcards
extreme poverty
living on less than $1.90 US a day
poverty
not having the resources to be able to access basic needs such as food and shelter
key targets of SDG 1
- eradicate extreme poverty for everyone everywhere, measured as people living on less than $1.90 a day
- reduce at least by half the proportion of men, women and children of all ages living in poverty
poverty cycle includes
- low income earned
- lack of access to resources such as nutritious foods/healthcare
- poor health from malnutrition and communicable diseases
- reduced ability to work consistently/productively
SDG 1 impact on HWB
- increased incomes=people affording adequate shelter =reduce risk of communicable diseases such as malaria improving the functioning of the body systems=improving PHWD
SDG 1 impact on human development
- increased incomes=people affording basic resources such as shelter/water=experiencing decent standard of living
how achieving SDG1 will assist achieving SDG 3
by reducing number of people living in poverty, income increases which increases access to:
- nutritious food=allow children to develop strong immune systems to protect themselves from illness/reduce infant and under 5 mortality rate
food security
state in which all people can obtain nutritionally adequate, culturally appropriate safe food regularly through local non emergency sources
key targets of SDG 2 includes
- end hunger/ensure access by all people particularly the poor and people in vulnerable situations, such as infants to safe, nutritious and sufficient food all year round
- end all forms of malnutrition by 2025
human development
- potential
- productive
- participate
- choices
- capabilities
- knowledge
- health
- decent standard of living
sdg 2 impact on HWB
- low levels of malnutrition in children and adults = improved immune system functioning= reduce likelihood of suffering other disease such as malaria, diarrhoea = improves functioning of body and its systems, improving PHWB
sdg 2 impact on human development
- well nourished children can attend school/concentrate effectively to develop full potential. school =enhanced knowledge=increased capabilities
how achieving SDG2 will assist in achieving SDG3
by reducing malnutrition, good HWB can be achieved by:
- pregnant women who’re well nourished=less likely to suffer serious pregnancy conditions=less likely to die during pregnancy=reduce maternal mortality rate
key targets of SDG4
- ensure boys and girls complete free/equitable/quality primary/secondary education
- ensure all girls/boys have access to quality early childhood development/care/preprimary education
SDG 4 impact on HWB
- children who attend school=sense of belonging=feeling connected to their community, whilst finding meaning/purpose in life=enhancing spiritual HWB
