A

automatic stabilizers; Food stamps, Unemployment benefits, Welfare payments will kick in to boost spending. If more help is needed fiscal policies(tax cuts, increased government spending) or monetary policies(lower interest rates) can be used as well.

Okun’s Law

A

Compare ACTUAL GDP to POTENTIAL GDP. Whatever the difference, flip the sign and cut the number in half to find the change in the unemployment rate. If Actual GDP growth is 4% and Potential growth is 6%, Actual compared to potential is -2%, so the new unemployment will be +1%.
