The quantity of goods and services, such as food, water, and shelter

The index that the United Nations uses to measure Quality of life. Only looks at GDP, Life Expectancy, and Knowledge

Legislation created in the 90s that outlines the rights of children everywhere
Define GMO
Genetically Modified Organisms- allows for genes to be modified
Define: Social Globalization
They ways in which globalization affects culture, traditions, way of life, etc.
Define: Economic globalization
the way in which globalization affects money, resources, etc.
Define: Political globalization
The way in which globalization affects government issues

Define: Democracy
A political system in which the law applies equally to all people. Voting.
What is the difference between Quality of Life and Standard of Living?
Standard of living only includes one aspect of quality of life: measures food/water/goods and services
Define: disparity of Quality of Life
Differences between quality of life of different countries
Define: GDP
Gross Domestic Product- the amount of money a country makes (how well it is doing economically)
What are the 6 areas of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights?
Political Rights: vote and participate in government
Civil Rights: Freedom of opinion and expression
Equality Rights: Free from discrimination
Economic Rights: Fair wages and safe working environment
Social Rights: Right to education and adequate health care
Cultural Rights: Right to practice traditions and speak your language
Why is GDP a good measure of Quality of Life? Why is it bad?
Countries with more money typically mean that their citizens are also making more money, so they are able to pay for necessary goods and services.
GDP Only measures money, and it takes an AVERAGE of the entire country (so there could be really, really rich people, and really, really, poor people)
