A

It is a document made by the United Nations that contains 30 rights that all humans should have access to.

A

It is an alliance of 193 countries leaving out 2(North Korea and Vatican City). It is an alliance to maintain worldwide peace and security.

What is the Pyramid of Hate?

A

A scale to measure the amount of hate one expresses towards human rights. It could be as little as a biased thought to genocide where you are literally killing entire groups of people.

What was the Indian Removal Act?

A

It was an act, in the 1830s, to move the Indians West for the “Americans” to get more land in the Southeast. This was forced by Andrew Jackson as he was able to pass this act.

A

He was the president who led the Indian Removal Act. He was able to fight for this act even though it went against the constitution.

What was the Trail of Tears?

A

It was the patches that the Indians used to relocate in the West. As people died during the journey on the trail they were referenced as tears. This was because they fell one by one leaving a trail of “tears”.

Japanese Internment Camps

A

These were places that Japanese Americans were placed from 1942 to 1945 after the bombing of Pearl Harbor. Even if though they were in America and had nothing to do with the bombing they were put in these terrible camps. (scapegoated)

A

He was the president that forced the Japanese Internment Camps for the Japanese Americans.

What was the attack on Pearl Harbor?

A

It was when the Japanese bombed the Naval base in Hawaii. 8 battleships were sunk and 2300 Americans were killed in 2 hours. 2 and a half hours later Japan declared war on the U.S. ground.

A

It was when the National Party(all whites) enforced segregationist laws. The blacks were discriminated against and separated into the “homelands” or Bantustan.

It is the action of separating people from others. Putting people or things apart from each other.

Who was Nelson Mandela?

A

He was the first black president of South Africa and a human rights activist. He fought against the apartheid, alongside the ANC(secret army). He believed in peace and no violence.

Who was F.W. de Klerk?

A

He became president and dismantled the apartheid system. He put the ban away of the ANC and released Nelson Mandela from jail. He worked with Nelson to put away with these laws and received a Nobel Peace Prize.

A

It is/was a secret army that Nelson Mandela worked with. They fought against apartheid with the goal to increase rights. The white government found out about this army and declared it illegal.

It is a cartoon that entertains and persuades you. It is about current events and makes you sway towards the cartoonist’s opinion. They use symbolism, satire, and caricature.

A

Identification with one’s nation and support for their interests. Including putting others nations’ interests down.

What was World War 1?

A

World War 1, formerly known as The War to End All Wars, was a war including 135 countries and two sides, the Allies and Central Power. It took place in Central Europe from 1914 to 1918. Archduke Franz Ferdinand was assassinated and was the first reason for WWl to start.

What was the Treaty of Versailles?

A

The document that the Allied Powers wrote and signed by Germany. Germany signed after WWl and it officially ended the war. Germany was blamed for the war, had to cover war costs, and give up some land as it was stated in the document.

What was The National Socialist German Workers Party(Nazi Party)?

A

It was the political party that Hitler joined after WW1. It was active from 1920-1945. I created the ideology of Nazism which are the movements Hitler used in order to gain power.

Who was Adolf Hitler?

A

He started out as any normal soldier that had just fought in WW1, came home, and felt betrayed and mad at the government for “giving” up on them. He rose to power in Germany from 1918 - 1933. He was able to persuade the public and scapegoat saying that the Jewish people were the reason the Germans have lost the war.

What was Mein Kemf?

A

It was a book that Hitler wrote during his time in jail. It was his plans or as he says his “blueprint” for what he was going to do. He was going to put blame on Jews for losing the war.

A

It is a set of goals that are supported by a political party or an individual candidate. They must gather the public’s attention and support towards their complicated/unclear topics.

What was the Holocaust?

A

It was a systematic persecution and over 6 million Jews were killed. This was led by Adolf Hitler. It meant sacrifice by fire.

A

Harsh killing of a large group of people of most commonly based on their ethnic group or nation.

A

It is a camp to confine a large number of prisoners in harsh and unhealthy conditions.

A

A crime motivated by bias against people’s color, race, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity and disability.

A

It was created to see if people would obey authoritarians. Whether the duty is the wrong thing to do. It had a teacher (random person) tase a student(someone in on the experiment) to a dangerous level.

A

He is the current president of Syria. He has bombed his own people and used toxic gas to kill them.

A

A person who flees their country due to internal problems.

A

It is a makeshift camp used to maintain refugees in.

What are barrel bombs.

A

They are metal capsules filled with old gas cans, nails, glass, and other harmful objects. When this is dropped the explosion is big but on top of that there are fatal objects scattered as well.

What is the Holy City?

A

Jerusalem, also known as the Holy City, is important to many religions. Christians believe that Jesus was crucified and reincarnated there. Jews believe Abraham sacrificed his son and Solomon built the first synagogue there. Finally, Muslims believe that Prophet Muhammad rose to heaven there.

What is the Gaza Strip?

A

It is a small section or “strip” on the coast of Israel/Palestine but it is controlled by Palestine. It is very poor and cut off from the outside world. It depends greatly on the UN and other imports. Lead by the Hamas political party.

What is West Bank?

A

It is a section of Israel/Palestine controlled by Palestine. It is led by the Fata party and is somewhat considerate of Israelis. Not necessarily peaceful though.

Who are the Uyghurs?

A

It is a group of mainly Muslims and are native Xinjiang. They are currently being detained by Chinese authorities. Possibly facing genocide.

What is a sanction?

A

It is a penalty/punishment for disobeying laws or rules. They can be travel bans, asset freezes, arms embargoes, and trade restrictions.

A

It is a self governing region of China. It is a very large but sparsely populated area, taking up 1/6 of China’s total area.

Who are the Han Chinese?

A

They are a part of the largest ethnic group in China and take up 90% of the people in China. They can be found all around the world. They introduced many items to the world like weapons and different materials.

A

It is the medical operation to make having children impossible.

What is a diplomatic boycott?

A

This is when countries don’t send their high-ranked politicians or members of a royal family to the Olympic Games. The Olympic Games is normally a place where leaders meet.
