Charism
A spiritual gift given by God to individuals to help build up and strengthen the Church
Laity
Baptized Catholics who share in Jesus’ mission and continue his work on earth and are not ordained
Religious Congregation
Community of religious brothers and/or priests who profess vows and commit to a common mission
Catechist
A person called by God to the ministry of the education and formation of Christians by teaching others the essentials of Christian doctrine and forming them as disciples of Jesus Christ
Venerable
First stage in the process of canonization to become recognized as a Saint in the Catholic Church; demonstrated heroic virtue in life
Saint
A “holy one” of God who lives in union with God; official Church status that says their example of discipleship is worthy of imitation

Second stage of the process of canonization; requires at least one approved miracle of the person’s intercession

Saint Viator
Lived in the 4th century. The world Viator means traveler. Saint Viator was a lector whose job was to proclaim sacred scripture and teach Latin to young people. When his Bishop, Bishop Just, decided to leave Lyon(his home city) to become a Scete monk, due to tragedy, St. Viator chose to travel with him
