Someone who can affect or be affected by the activities of another group, or organisation?
Stakeholder
Mana Whenua?
Maori should not be seen as stakeholders. Rather as Mana Whenua (protectors of the land) and treaty partners.
Examples of ‘Global’ stakeholders?
UN, Oxfam. EU, Indigenous groups.
Examples of ‘National’ stakeholders?
NZ Government, other political parties, NGOs, iwi, local government, science & industry groups.
Examples of ‘Local’ stakeholders?
Councils, iwi Māori, industry bodies and schools, for example, but specific communities, marae, businesses and families
Those who are directly affected by the proposed activity?
Primary stakeholders:
Those who’s permission, approval or support is needed.
Those who may be impacted by the activities in material, social or emotional/psychological ways.
Those who may benefit from the activities in any way.
Those who are indirectly affected?
Secondary stakeholders.
Those who are not directly affected, but who can influence or facilitate the activities or process?
Tertiary stakeholders.
