Unit 3, Topic 4 - Learning Flashcards
what is spontaneous recovery for classical conditioning
The sudden reappearance of the previously extinguished CR in response to the CS alone.
what is extinction for classical conditioning
when the CS no longer elicits a CR
- is the breakdown of the association between the CS and CR
what are the key factors of classical conditioning
- involuntary response
- learner is passive in the acquisition stage
the consequence of the response is irrelevant to the learning
describe learned fear responses “little Albert.” and what the experiment concluded.
- Little Albert displayed no fear response to a range of neutral stimuli.
- The experimenter presented “Little Albert” with a white rat and presented loud noises (unconditioned stimulus)
- UCR (fear of loud noise)
- presented with other similar animals and showed stimulus generalisation
- concludes fears and phobias con be conditioned emotional responces.
what is the difference between modelling and vicarious conditioning?
modelling involves someone watching someone else display a behaviour but no form of reinforment in response to the action is observed. Social learning occurs through self-reinforcement.
Vicarious conditioning occurs when the learner observes the modeled behaviour either being reinforced or punished. vicarious reinforcement influence expression of behaviour in learner
