Unit 3 Terms Flashcards
What are supporting cells in the nervous system called?
Neuroglia
what are astorcytes
CNS- blood brain barrier
What are microglia?
CNS- Small, clean up; phagocytes
What are Olio?
CNS-branched cells
What are Ependymal?
CNS-ciliated (squamous or columnar)
What are satellite?
PeNS- maintain chemical environment
What are schwann?
PeNS- regeneration, wrap around nerve cells
What is white matter?
myelinated fibers
What is grey matter?
unmyelinated fibers and cells
What is EPSP?
excitatory postsynaptic potential: increases post AP, ANIONS LEAVE or CATIONS Enter
What is IPSP?
Inhibitory postsynaptic potential, decrease post AP, ANIONS ENTER or CATIONS LEAVE
What is Temporal EPSP?
Time; two EPSP come from one neuron
What is spacial EPSP?
Space; two EPSP that are from different neurons and occupy different space
What is EPSP-IPSP Cancellation?
both fire at the same time and cancel
What is Nicotinic
Ligand- gated, EPSP, brain and skeletal muscles DEPOLARIZATION
