Revolution
a forcible overthrow
of a government or social order,
in favor of a new system
First Criteria for a Revolution
Upset with the Status Quo or see need for a change. People must be upset by and/or want to change the status quo.
Status Quo
The existing state of affairs, especially regarding social or political issues. The way things are.
Second Criteria for a Revolution
Present a Plan. People (or a person) must present a plan that seems better than the status quo.
Third Criteria for a Revolution
Plan put in ACTION and a change happens.The plan must be put into action and the plan should be followed and the change should happen…at least for a period of time. The time is relative
Tragic Necessity
Something tragic occurred but was needed for a necessary change to the Status Quo. It could be for the greater good but there will be negative consequences.
Renaissance
It means “Rebirth” in french and was a period of time after the middle ages. It started in italy in the 1300s and massively changed art, literature and education.
Humanism
Was a cultural movement during the Renaissance that focused on the study of the classical works for literature from the ancient world. Humanists believed that learning a variety of topics led to a better life on earth, rather than focusing solely on getting into heaven.
Classical Scholarship
The liberal arts were reintroduced like the study of grammar, music, logic, and arithmetic just to name a few. People returned to studying the classical world of the ancient Greeks and Romans. Rennasance Revolution
Secularism
the view that religion should not be the center of human affairs. Rennasance Revolution
Individualism
The view of human worth and the fact that the individual was more important than the larger community. This allowed artists, architects, authors, and composers to move away from religious topics and instead allowed them to use their imagination and explore human potential. Rennesance Revoltuion
Christian Humanism
Focus on the history of Christianity and what they believed to be the law of love revealed by Jesus Christ. The belief was that a good Christian should focus on their lives on love, peace, and simplicity. This lead to the Protestant Reformation. Rennesance Revolution

Leonardo da Vinci was one of the greatest Renaissance artist he was known as the first “Renaissance man”. He was not only a talented artist, but also excelled in engineering, architecture, and music. In addition, he was very interested in anatomy. Rennasance Revlolution
